Happy New Year! My first cast-on for 2025 was the Movement Tee by Lily Kate. I wanted a new, larger project but wanted to steer clear of the big jumpers given it's almost Spring. This seemed like a perfect choice. It's a t-shirt knit with DK weight yarn. I loved the stripes in the blue and white sample and wanted to replicate that look. It seemed like a perfect make for the upcoming Spring/Summer.

The original sample was knit in Sandnes Garn Duo, a 55% cotton/45% merino wool DK weight yarn. Unfortunately, this wasn't easily available to get hold of in the UK when I was looking for yarn for this project. I couldn't find many cotton/wool blends, and I really wanted to try a cotton/wool blend for this project. Drops have their Cotton Merino yarn which may have worked but I decided to treat myself and settled on Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino with the idea of holding it double to achieve DK weight. I ordered from Oxford Yarn Store just before Christmas and was excited it arrived so fast and I received it before the day itself.

Five yarn balls, navy and beige, labeled "Knitting for Olive" on striped paper with an "Oxford Yarn Store" bag in the background.
Christmas Yarn Delivery from Oxford Yarn Store!! I love how they package it, it always feels like a present to myself.

I ordered Navy Blue as the main colour and Gray Lamb as the contrast colour. I cast on size 3 (my upper bust measurement is 36 inches, full bust measurement is 39 inches) using the default needle sizes, after swatching and getting gauge.

Knitting in progress with dark blue yarn and wooden needles on a table. The yarn is partially knitted into a piece, evoking a calm mood.

I'm so excited to see how this one turns out. Let me know if you've knit the Movement Tee or the Movement Sweater which I also have my eye on! Thanks for reading.
